Privacy policy

The short version

InterviewSoul turns speech into text on your own computer. Audio never leaves it. To write an answer, the app sends text to our server, which passes it to OpenAI. We store your email address, how much session time you have used, and how large each answer was. We do not store what was said or your screenshots. Documents you add in the app stay on your computer; a résumé or job description you attach to an interview on your website calendar is stored on our server until you remove that entry. We do not sell your data or use it for advertising.

Who we are

InterviewSoul is run by Saurav Ghimire, New Jersey, USA, who is responsible for your data. You can reach us at [email protected].

What stays on your computer

What is sent when you ask for an answer

This goes to our server and from there to OpenAI, which writes the answer. Our server passes it through and does not keep it. OpenAI receives it through its API for businesses, under which it does not use the data to train its models by default and may keep it for a limited time to detect abuse; see OpenAI's privacy and data-retention pages for details.

What we store

Why we use it

Companies that process data for us

We share data with these companies only so they can do this work for us. We may also disclose data if the law requires it, or to a business that takes over InterviewSoul, which would have to keep this policy's promises.

Cookies and browser storage

The website keeps your sign-in in your browser's storage so you stay signed in. It uses no advertising or analytics cookies and no tracking scripts. Cloudflare and Stripe may set cookies they need for security and payments.

Where your data is

Our server and database are in the United States. If you use InterviewSoul from elsewhere, your data is transferred there and to the companies above, which use their own safeguards for international transfers.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit. Our database and file storage can be reached only by our server, not directly from the internet, and résumé files are private and handed out only through links that expire after two minutes. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects your data, we will tell you as the law requires.

Other people in your conversations

The app transcribes what the other side of a call says, on your computer. You are responsible for having any consent that the law where you and they are requires before you use it on a call.

How long we keep things

A calendar entry, with any position, job description and résumé attached to it, is kept until you remove it. Account and usage records are kept while your account exists. Ask us to delete your account at [email protected] and we will remove your data within 30 days, except payment records we must keep by law. We may also keep a record that your email address and computer identifier have used the free time, only so the free 30 minutes cannot be claimed again.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to see, correct, export or delete the data we hold about you, to object to or limit how we use it, and to complain to a data protection authority. Residents of California and other US states with privacy laws: we do not sell or share personal information for advertising, and we will not treat you differently for using your rights. Write to [email protected]; we will answer within 30 days.

Children

InterviewSoul is for adults. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18; if you believe a child has an account, tell us and we will delete it.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that matters, we will say so by email or in the app before it takes effect. The date at the top shows the latest version.
